I'll admit....
That it certainly does sting when you’re browsing on indeed.com and you see a recent posting for a job you applied for a few weeks ago and thought you were maybe even a little bit overqualified for. The old ego gets a bit bruised.

I’m about to watch Where The Wild Things Are, after just having listened to the new Vampire Weekend album. All I need is a PBR and a plaid shirt and it’s hipster paradise.

Flirting Ettiquette
I’m no dating expert, but I would suggest two tips to dudes who are trying to hit on a girl that is not a Rock of Love reject: 1. Even if you know for a fact that a girl is Latina, don’t call her “Mami”. Gross. 2. Don’t wear an “I Heart Strippers” t-shirt while trying to initiate a conversation. Besides, you already blew it with “Mami.” ...

This is fact, not fiction / for the first time...
Since I’m feeling a little weird today—a little mopey, a little restless—and my car is in the shop, I’m trying to narrow down my to-do list today. Here are some of the options: 1. Drink 2. Watch a movie on my computer (one of my friends has been praising Gran Torino) 3. Organize my iTunes collection and start rating songs 4. Clean room, organize files, etc. I’m...

I've been slacking
I haven’t really been devoting much time to Tumblr lately, for a few random reasons….this might change soon, but not sure if for the better or worse. For reasons I can’t get into quite yet, things are going to change really soon. It’s sort of the end of an era, but the beginning of something that I think will be great. And I know I’m being sort of cryptic, which is a...

"Seattle dogs"
trainwrecks: shebs: grilledcheese: Apparently, in Seattle it is customary for hot dog stands to serve their dogs with CREAM CHEESE.  I’m so sad that I didn’t find this out sooner.  I want to take a packet of cream cheese with me the next time I head to Costco. Hi, I’m Sarah.  I am addicted to hot dogs.  I had one at Costco yesterday and I may go back for another today.  I want to go to there...

Job hunting procrastination
I found this awesome job posting the other day—it’s definitely something I’d like to do and the pay is awesome. Awesome enough that I’d be able to move out after maybe after just two or three paychecks, I think. However, I can’t for the life of me actually get started on working on this resume and cover letter. There are a few possible things going on: The job has...

Love goes home to Paris in the spring
On the bright side: what I’ve always vowed to avoid was a monotonous life where I just go through the motions. Being laid off sure will give you a kick in the ass and make sure you’re not just coasting comfortably through life. Yay to being scrappy and this is the kind of moment where twenty years from now I’ll be telling my kids about because this is what led me to do some...

Scary internet
It’s late and I’m tired, otherwise I might have realized this sooner: doing a google search for Chateau-de-Sade (a castle in France) leads to some pages on the Internet that I sort of wish I had never seen. http://www.chateaudesade.com/Mstrss_C.html Yikes.

frannyandzooey: The pound is down to $1.3673?! I need to go to London again soon. Aah! I keep saying this but I need to make it true ASAP. Unless it falls lower? I can’t evem imagine it being on par with the US dollar. While this is personally great for me if I travel, it’s totally bad for my job security.

shorterexcerpts: jaimeleighfairbrother: I have a long, long history of regrettable choices made when drunk. The worst of these may be the drunken text messages (and occasionally phone calls). I have it on good authority that we all do this, but nobody ever gives examples. I want to read the transcript of your drunken call. I want to see your drunken texts. Come on baby, I’ll show you...

Best Value Colleges in 2009 →
shorterexcerpts: lhh: (via hannahkayye) #9 with a bullet…hmmm, I suppose this means I should’ve gone back for that 2nd undergrad degree and film minor after all, as the school wasn’t as good a deal when I got my BA. Ah, my old alma mater is #9 for the private schools. This news makes me vaguely depressed, actually. Pomona was really generous and the education there really was amazing, I just...

I really, really, really....
Don’t want to go to the gym right now. I’ve been fairly good at staying on track: I’ve gone for 3 out of the last 4 days. And it’s always fine when I’m there, etc., but….it’s just so hard to leave a warm bedroom and make the trek over there. But I’ll go….thanks to my lack of an interesting social life!

Things I'm Looking Forward to in 2009
Because 2008 wasn’t exactly the greatest, I’m taking the positive route and trying to go with things I’m looking forward to in 2009. Traveling. Hopefully going to Europe, New York Chicago all in 2009. It’s ambitious, but crazier things have happened. Having either my own apartment or finding someone cool to share one with. The old standby, getting in better shape. My...

New Year's Eve in Times Square
shorterexcerpts: nickmcglynn: Here is some helpful advice if you plan on going to Times Square for New Years. First off, it’s awful; but worth doing once in your life. Arrive early!! Prime viewing areas may fill up early in the afternoon. Police will confiscate alcohol, so be discrete. Use the restroom before you arrive, there are no bathrooms and you will be standing in one place so wear...
